The Library Board of Trustees invites the community to meet the three remaining candidates for Champaign’s Library Director position at a special public event on July 7, 2016.  The event starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Champaign City Building (102 N Neil Street, Champaign) and the public is invited to attend in person, watch live on Champaign Government Television (CGTV), or view online at ci.champaign.il.us/live.

This event is an opportunity for the public to learn more about each candidate’s qualifications and visions of major opportunities for the Champaign Public Library in the future.  The public is invited to submit potential questions for the finalists by emailing them in advance to [email protected].  Following the event, the public will be asked to provide feedback about the candidates to the Library Board of Trustees.

“The Library Board values the community’s input on which candidate is the best choice to lead Champaign’s wonderful four-star Library into the future,” reports Board President Martin Wolske.  “The Library Board has been very deliberate in its search for the right person to fill this critical position, and we’re fortunate to have received interest from so many distinguished candidates.  We look forward to further discussions with the finalists in July, learning what the public thinks of the candidates, and moving forward on selecting the Champaign Public Library’s next Director.”

The three finalists for the Library Director position are:

  • Cynthia Fesemyer, Director, Columbus Public Library, Columbus, WI
  • Donna Pittman, Interim Director and Development Director, Champaign Public Library, Champaign, IL
  • Michael Steinmacher, Library Director/Senior Manager, Fort Knox Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Programs, Barr Memorial Library, Fort Knox, KY

In addition to this public event, each candidate will partake in interviews, meet with various stakeholder groups, and tour the community on July 7 and 8.
