Neighborhood Coordination Assists Local Groups with STAR Service Day

On June 18, the NSD Coordination Division collaborated with the Champaign Urbana Area Project, Jericho Missionary Baptist Church, and several other local groups and volunteers to implement a neighborhood clean-up initiative along Hedge Road and the railroad tracks in the Garden Hills neighborhood. Approximately 50 volunteers participated in the cleanup efforts. All tasks were completed with the assistance of equipment and tools provided by NSD through the STAR Tool Lending Library.  The service project included a peace walk through the community with Jericho Baptist Church prior to the cleanup. The day was organized by the NAACP environmental committee.
