Yesterday, at approximately 5:58 PM, Champaign Police responded to the 1100 block of N. Sixth St. for a shots fired report. Upon arrival, officers located a 15-year-old male from Rantoul, who sustained a serious gunshot wound and was transferred to an area hospital. It is unclear at this time if the gunshot wound was self-inflicted or if a suspect was involved.
Information concerning this incident is being developed. Anyone who may have information related to the shooting is encouraged to contact the Champaign Police Department Investigations Division at 217-351-4545 or Crime Stoppers at 217-373-8477.
