Appointment Based Process to Minimize Wait Times at Next Countywide Electronics Recycling Event
In order to avoid long lines and alleviate traffic backups, residents of Champaign County can now schedule a time to drop off their recyclables during the Countywide Residential Electronics Recycling Event scheduled on October 15, 2016. Residents can quickly schedule an appointment by visiting ecycle.simplybook.me and selecting a convenient time to drop off their unused or broken electronics. Appointments are available in 15 minute increments between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. The collection will be held at Parkland College and is co-sponsored by the City of Champaign, City of Urbana, Champaign County, and the Village of Savoy.
This fall, residents who register in advance will be allowed to drop off ten items, including up to 2 TVs, during their appointment window. All types of TVs will be accepted (including flat panel and tube TVs) in either working or non-working conditions.
Those who register online will receive a color-coded postcard in the mail, which will be their “ticket” to the event, residents will then show up at their allotted time slot with their “ticket”. Residents must register online before 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 8. Residents who show up to the event to drop without prior registration, may be turned away.
