Police Identify and Arrest Suspect Responsible for Recent Armed Robberies

On Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at approximately 4:30 PM, the US Marshal Service arrested 27-year-old Carmaine R. McBride of Champaign on charges of Armed Robbery.

After seeking the public’s help on September 7 to identify an armed robbery suspect, a tip confirmed the identity of the suspect as Carmaine R. McBride.  Champaign Police obtained Armed Robbery warrants for McBride for his involvement in the September 3, 2016 armed robbery of the Circle K located at 1101 N. Prospect; as well as the September 5 Armed Robbery at Circle K located at 1713 W. John St.

In both robberies, McBride brandished a handgun to the store clerk and stole cash and cigarettes.  No injuries were reported in either robbery.

McBride was arrested in Springfield for the two Armed Robbery warrants from Champaign County, and was also identified for two additional armed robberies in Springfield where he is currently being held at the Sangamon County Jail.
