Police Hold Press Conference as Update to September 25 Shooting Investigations

Today, the Champaign Police Department held a press conference to provide updates into the September 25, 2016 shooting that resulted in multiple gunshot victims and the death of 22-year-old George Korchev.

robbie-m-patton_suspect-in-sept-25-shooting-investigationPreliminary results of the investigation identified an individual believed to be responsible for the Green St. shooting.  That information was presented to the Champaign County State’s Attorney’s Office, and as a result, an arrest warrant has been issued for 18-year-old Robbie M. Patton of Champaign (pictured left), for the offenses of First Degree Murder and Aggravated Battery with a Firearm.

During the press conference, Police provided an investigation summary and surveillance footage from the date in question.  The video clip shows individuals who were in the parking lot near the scene of the shooting and police are seeking to identify these individuals to conduct interviews for further investigative findings.
