Detective Mark Vogelzang is honored by the Exchange Club of Champaign as the Champaign Police Department’s “2011 Officer of the Year.” The event took place at an annual recognition luncheon, held on April 2, 2012, at O’Charley’s restaurant. Chief Anthony Cobb also discussed his first days as Chief of Police with Exchange Club members.
Officer Jonathan Westfield conducted a presentation on the dangers of drugs at the Champaign County Regional Planning Commission on March 29, 2012. Officer Westfield discussed dangerous new drugs that youth may encounter in their communities, the negative short and long term effects of drugs, and frightening real world examples.

Champaign Police Officer Jonathan Westfield is spending the week at Lincoln’s Challenge Academy conducting anti-bullying presentations. Several community members, including Champaign’s School Resource Officer Jonathan Westfield, participated in the annual African-American Read-In at Yankee Ride Elementary School. In honor of Black History Month, a group of community leaders were invited to read books to students and stress the importance of reading.
Officer Jonathan Westfield also served as a panelist for the TALK Foundation’s community forum on anti-bullying held at the Champaign Public Library on February 20th. The TALK Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for the safety and well-being of children in East Central Illinois and throughout the world.
