How to Apply
The City of Champaign accepts applications for current job openings only. Applicants may apply online for current openings by visiting the Online Hiring Center using any computer with an internet connection.
An email address is necessary to apply online. If you do not have a current email address, you can sign up for free email with various providers such as Hotmail or Yahoo! Mail. If you don’t have access to a computer with internet service, please visit the Champaign Public Library or the Illinois workNet Center. You can also contact the H.R. Department for further options.

The Application Process
The City of Champaign only accepts applications for open positions. To apply, you must submit an online application. It is important to carefully review the minimum qualifications on the job announcement and to include all relevant education and experience when applying for a position. If you have held more than one job with an employer, please list each job separately. Resumes and other supplemental information are extremely helpful. Resumes may be submitted in addition to the employment application by simply copying and pasting it into the designated area in the online application. A resume may not be submitted in lieu of the employment application.
Please take note of the application deadline and make sure you “Submit” your application by that date.
The Selection Process
Once the application deadline has passed, applicants are reviewed to insure that recruitment goals are met and that the pool of applicants is a reflection of the community’s available work force. All applications are evaluated based on the required and preferred qualifications for the position. The most qualified candidates are selected to move forward for testing, interviews and final consideration. Applicants that are not selected to move forward in the process will be notified.
