December 2010 Code Compliance News Briefs

903 N. Walnut – The property has been vacant and totally neglected by the property owner for quite some time.  As a result of the property being vacant and neglected by the property owner, homeless individuals have broken into the structure repeatedly and started a fire.  For this reason, Code Compliance Inspector Cliff Peete issued a violation notice to the property owner to repair or demolish the structure.  Since the owner failed to repair or demolish the structure, the case was forwarded to the legal department.  After several court hearings with the property owner, the Code Compliance Division received a court order to demolish the structure.  On December 7, 2010, the property was demolished by Accurate Site, a contractor located in Bloomington, IL.
