Many programs listed below reference the Median Family Income (MFI) Guidelines requirement.

Accessory Structure Demo

The Accessory Structure Demolition Program provides funding to eligible Champaign homeowners to demolish dilapidated accessory structures on their property.


The Acquisition-Rehabilitation Program provides forgivable deferred payment loans to eligible Champaign homebuyers to purchase homes and make repairs to deteriorated, single-family dwelling units.

Emergency Repair Program

The Emergency Repair Program provides grants to eligible Champaign homeowners on an “as needed” basis. It may be used to correct housing deficiencies of an immediate nature that threatens the health or safety of the occupants of the structure such as a leaking roof or non-functioning furnace.

Full Home Rehabilitation Program

The Full Home Rehabilitation Program provides grants and/or low-interest loans for the purpose of hiring a contractor to repair deteriorated dwellings within Champaign.

Home Accessibility Retrofit Program

The Home Accessibility Retrofit Program provides grants or deferred payment loans to eligible Champaign homeowners or renters to eliminate barriers, modify the layout, or add structural accessories or improvement to the dwelling to make it more accessible to the disabled occupants.

Homebuyer Assistance

The City of Champaign, in association with the Illinois Housing Development Authority, the ASSIST program and local lenders, offers home purchase products to eligible households.

Home Maintenance Workshop

The Neighborhood Services Department provides a Home Maintenance Workshop that teaches basic home repair skills and shows how basic maintenance tasks around the home can be completed. The workshop also covers cost and energy saving ideas and home safety measures.

The primary focus of Navicore Solutions is to provide community services dedicated to financial literacy.

Rent Assistance

The Housing Authority of Champaign County (HACC) helps provide homes for low-income families.

Tenant-Based Rent Assistance Program

Using City of Champaign HOME funds, Champaign County Regional Planning Commission is offering a limited number of slots for homeless or low-income households to enroll in a program to significantly improve household self-sufficiency within 2 years.
