Champaign Growing Greener is the City’s plan to become a more environmentally friendly community. The planning process is funded through an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant. Join the effort to help Champaign Grow Green!

1.) Learn About Local Conditions
Understanding existing conditions is an important first step. This ensures that goals and actions are based on acts rather than myths or assumptions. Did you know:
- In Champaign, 77% of greenhouse gases come from energy consumed by the built environment, like homes, businesses and lighting
- 44% of the total energy consumed by City of Champaign facilities comes from street lights
- Only 53% of residents regularly recycle

We want to know what you think. What are you concerned about? What do you think the Plan should prioritize? Tell us!
Champaign Growing Greener Survey! What are you willing to do to ‘go green?’ If the City or other organizations could provide resources or training, what would you be willing to do at your home or workplace?
3.) Engage With Fellow Citizens
Attend an event, sign up for e-mail alerts, become the City’s friend on Facebook and follow City of Champaign Twitter, #greenchampaign.
4. Grow Greener, Together
Using the information gathered through analysis, input from citizens and direction from City Council, the Champaign Growing Greener Plan will be a guidebook for becoming a more environmentally friendly community.
