Jerad Gale, Champaign Police Officer of the Year 2014

Congratulations to Champaign Police Officer, Jerad Gale, for being selected as the “2014 Officer of the Year!” Officer Gale was selected by a committee of his peers for exemplifying the values of Service with Pride.

Officer Jerad Gale is a motivated, conscientious, and dedicated Police Officer.  His tenacious investigative endeavors, most notably his efforts to locate and interview witnesses and suspects, allow him to solve crimes without the cases needing to be forwarded to the Investigations Division.  His reports are exceptionally well-written and thorough.  In addition to answering calls for service, Officer Gale engages in a high-level of proactive enforcement activity.  Officer Gale has outstanding verbal skills and a unique ability to connect with difficult subjects or those struggling with mental issues. He is proud of his vocation and the Champaign Police Department and demonstrates that pride every day in his actions, as well as his interactions with the public. Officer Gale is involved in the community through his efforts in the Risk Watch program, as well as the planning and selection process for the annual “Shop with a Cop” program.  His uniform and personal appearance is impeccable and professional, which is important to both the public and the Champaign Police Department.  Officer Gale gives his all on a daily basis and is an outstanding representative of the Champaign Department.  His extra efforts affirm to the citizens that “they matter” and bolster their confidence that justice will prevail.  The pride with which Officer Gale performs his duties, his relentless investigative efforts, and the positive public image he puts forth, distinguishes him as the Champaign Police Department’s 2014 Officer of the Year.
