Housing and Rental Assistance

Homeowners assistance programs have been established by the City of Champaign, with funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development in the form of Community Development Block Grants and HOME funds, in order to assist individuals with various portions of home repair and maintenance. Every program available through the City has an income restriction with many of them also requiring that the home being rehabilitation is owned by the resident with a few exceptions.

Sump Pumps

Sump pumps are pumps used to keep buildings dry below the ground level. Sump pumps pick up groundwater inflow or ground surface runoff and may NOT be discharged into the sanitary sewer system.

Utility Service

The City of Champaign is unlike some cities in that it is not responsible for all of the utilities. In Champaign, the cable television, electrical, gas, telephone, and water systems are all owned and operated by private companies.
