Cause of fire: CFD investigators determined the fire was caused by a failure within the dishwasher.
Dollar Loss: Heavy fire, water and smoke damage throughout the kitchen and front room with heavy smoke damage throughout the entire single-story home.
Further Information: Mr. Dixon and the children arrived home, opened the garage door to park and settle in for the evening. They noticed water on the floor and what they thought to be fog enveloping the garage. They determined it was smoke and called 911. The family’s beloved dog died. Private investigative teams will continue to research and may provide further details later. American Red Cross and Emergency Services Support Team assistance was provided. The family was displaced last evening. LESSON LEARNED: Turn off all appliances: washers, dryers, space heaters, dishwashers before leaving home. The family left the home around 6:30 PM, turning the dishwasher on as they left.
