Email Subscription Champaign Fire Explorer Scholarship
The City of Champaign is pleased to announce Ms. Jasmine M. Groce of Rantoul Township High School as the recipient of the first annual City of Champaign Fire Explorer Scholarship. The City’s educational scholarship program supports local youth pursuing a career in public safety and assists with a City Council goal to introduce additional diversity into the Fire Service.
Daughter of Ms. Anna Traini and Mr. Charles “Mike” Groce, Jasmine Groce has shown great leadership and a strong desire to serve the community through a career in fire service in her 3 years as a Champaign Fire Explorer cadet. Ms. Groce will begin Parkland College this fall to earn an associate’s degree in Fire Service Technology. Ms. Groce will be recognized for her achievement at the May 18, 2010 City Council meeting.
The 2011 City of Champaign Fire Explorer Scholarship application will be available on the City of Champaign website, www.ci.champaign.il.us/explorer, and in area high school guidance departments next spring.
