2009 Annual Illinois Municipal Human Relations Association Conference held in Champaign
The cities of Champaign, Urbana and the University of Illinois were the community hosts for the 2009 Annual Illinois Municipal Human Relations Association (IMHRA) Conference in partnership with the Illinois Department of Human Rights. The conference theme was “Dawn of a New Era: Forging Partnerships to Strengthen Our Communities.”
The conference was held Thursday, June 11th 2009 at the I Hotel and Conference Center, 1800 S. First Street, Champaign, with a welcome/opening at 8:30 a.m. by state, local and University officials and the IMHRA President. Over 90 attendees were registered to attend the conference representing many communities throughout the state. Five Champaign Human Relations Commissioners attended the conference and participated in an afternoon session for Commissioners only.

IMHRA is a non-profit organization that was established in 1973 and its purpose is to facilitate the exchange of information concerning the enforcement of human rights and human relations; and to promote educational programs which foster understanding between organizations and individuals engaged in the improvement of inter-group relations within the State of Illinois.
