This year’s slurry seal project is scheduled to begin May 4 (weather pending) and will be completed within 20 working days. The contractor for this year’s project is Micro-surfacing Inc. from Peoria, Illinois. The project concentrates work on the oil and chip type streets south of Church Street. This year’s project will include a surface treatment called a “Cape Seal”. The Cape Seal treatment involves the application of a traditional oil and chip layer followed by a slurry seal about two weeks later. This process will be used on streets that exhibit greater distress than others. This project will seal approximately 11.5 lane miles of City oil and chip type streets.
